The Makings of More Joy...

Iris Harrell

A singer/songwriter who lived 5 years on the road in a band called Shiraz h the ‘70’s. A resident of Oakmont Village since 2015, she is a happily retired general contractor and designer from Silicon Valley. She grew up in North Carolina and Virginia with country, gospel and the Beatles.

Ann Benson

Originally from Texas, her dad bought her a Martin acoustic guitar from a pawn shop when she was 12 years old. She still plays that Martin. Ann sang and played guitar for decades in local Dallas coffee houses, restaurants and concerts. Singer, guitarist and arranger, Ann loves ballads (especially sad ones) and any kind of folk music.

Deborah Knapp

Debbie is a classically trained pianist who is ready for fun. After graduate studies in piano performance, she taught piano to children for many years in SF. The accordion was picked up mid-life as a hobby. Since moving to Oakmont 9 years ago, Debbie has performed with theater productions, accompanied vocalists, and played church gigs. Currently, she plays for Jack London Park on Charmian London’s 1901 Steinway, gives “edutainment” piano talks, and entertains children with science songs as a Quercus Quire member. Debbie is delighted to have new musical adventures with More Joy!

Chris Finn

Chris has played upright bass and mandolin in numerous bands over the years, including several bands with Topher. She basically loves playing music with friends and especially enjoys harmony singing. After moving to Sonoma County, she found the music community here vibrant and much to her liking. She joined as a member of More Joy when Iris and Ann moved to Oakmont in Santa Rosa....and she has never looked back.
